Herbs at Ashcombe – Infusion Confusion

Ashcombe grows over 100 different varieties of herbs each year, right here in our own production facility. Herbs have so many uses in your home, your diet, and even as décor. Starting on July 20th, for 5 weeks, we will be hosting herb classes from 12:30pm -2pm to teach you how to use your herb plants! These classes will be taught by our expert Café Manager, Margaret. Each week will have a different theme showcasing specific herbs and their uses. Classes cost $30 per person; you can sign up for one or for them all! Those who attend all 5 classes will receive special perks, including an herb apron.

7/20 – Basil – Learn about different types of basil, how to use it, and how to preserve it. Create an infused basil oil to take home and sample basil cookies, salad, and a drink.

7/27 – Dill – Learn about different types of dill, how to use it, and how to preserve it. Taste and watch lemon dill aioli and dill potato salad being made. Make and take home dill dip. Sample dill scones and dill chicken.

8/3 – Lavender – Learn about different types of lavender, how to use it, and how to preserve it. Taste and watch lavender syrup and lavender popcorn being made. Make lavender syrup and extract. Sample lavender cookies and lavender chicken.

8/10 – Infusion Confusion – Explore creating extracts, honey, syrups, and oils with a variety of different herbs. Sample herb-infused oils with bread for dipping and flavored lemonades.

8/17 – Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, & Thyme – Learn about the uses and preservations of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Taste and watch chimichurri sauce and zhoug sauce being made. Make and take Herbes de Provence and 4 thieves vinegar. Sample rosemary crackers, bread-dipping oils and sauces.
