Plant Palooza!

Our annual houseplant event is back. Join us January 29th through February 6th for a week of special sales, workshops and programs.  Be sure to visit our ‘Stem Swap’ to trade your houseplant cuttings for someone else’s. Also take advantage of our free potting service when you buy a plant and a pot at the same time.

Classes during Plant Palooza:
All Ashcombe classes require preregistration and payment. Online registration is now available.

January 29th:
Carnivorous Plant Care, at 11am. Join Kevin Kelly, an experienced gardener with insight on the care of carnivorous plants. In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of potting and caring for carnivorous plants. Class is $10 per person.  Click here to register for this workshop.

Succulent Log Planter at 2pm. In this class you’ll work with Kerri on planting a small concrete log planter full of succulents. This is the perfect way to add some cottage core décor to your home. The rough wood with smooth succulents creates an elegant and rustic appearance, which is great as a centerpiece or as an addition to any room in your home. Class is limited to 20 participants. January 30th:
The Art of Bonsai at 11am. Bonsai is an artform which focuses on growing specific trees and shrubs in shallow containers. If not done correctly, the end result will not be correct. Come learn the art of Bonsai from expert Jim Doyle from Nature’s Way Nursery in Harrisburg. He will be here to speak about the art of Bonsai and demonstrate the proper care of these special plants. Fairy garden and terrarium workshop at 2pm. Come by for a fairy garden and terrarium workshop class. You’ll create a beautiful home for a fairy. Shop for plants and accessories as part of the class. Cost is $7 plus the cost of plants and accessories. Click here to purchase you space in this class!

 

February 5th:
Houseplant Care Demonstration at 11am. Karen Schwarzbauer of the Penn-Cumberland Garden Club and the Hobby Greenhouse Association will offer tips on identifying and propagating. Each participant will also receive a plant to take home! Cost is $15.  Click here to register.

 

February 6th:
Herbs for Tea and Tea Blending at 11am. In this class, participants will learn how to use herbs to make tea with Susanna Reppert Brill from the Rosemary House.  Learn the art of blending herbs to make the perfect cup of tea. Each participant will create their own blend to take home! Cost is $15 per person. Click here to register for this class.

Indoor Herb Garden at 2pm. Kerri will walk you through planting an indoor herb garden for your kitchen! Select your favorite herbs or try something new! You’ll have the opportunity to select from our large variety of herbs to create your perfect indoor herb garden. Cost is $40 per person. Click here to purchase your seat in this class.
