A Taste of the Chesapeake in Central PA – Blue Crab Bay Co.

Blue Crab Bay Co. was born in 1985, when a young woman named Pamela Barefoot had a dream — to move to Virginia’s isolated Eastern Shore and survive with her creativity. The rural coastal peninsula, bounded by the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, offered a blank canvas for entrepreneurial opportunity, inspiring Pam to start her own business. Driving around the back roads, she envisioned items such as spice blends for clam and crab, two seafood species prevalent in the Chesapeake. Setting up shop on the table in her farmhouse kitchen, she mixed seasonings and dreamed of other specialties that would embrace the flavors of the region. (Retrieved from Blue Crab Bay Co. Website).
Inspired by Pam’s vision, Blue Crab Bay Co. has created products that bring the Chesapeake right into your kitchen. We have compiled the following three recipes to show the versatility of Blue Crab Bay Co. products.
A Classic: The Crabcake
Nothing gives Maryland and Virginia beach vibes quite like a crab cake. The Chesapeake Crab Cake mix is a blend of cracker crumbs, seasoned with Blue Crab Bay Co.’s Chesapeake Bay Seasoning, air-dried peppers, carrots, celery, tomatoes and leeks. You can adjust this recipe to crab puffs by rolling crab into 1 inch balls before sautéing or broiling.

Pass me the Plate Please: Chesapeake Crab Dip
Crab dip is possibly the best thing that can be at a party. Nothing beats dipping a hearty pita chip deep into the dish of fresh crab dip and coming back with the perfect bite! Equal parts crunch and sea flavors, this dip is absolute perfection! You can also serve this recipe warm! Add 1 tbsp dry sherry or wine and serve warmed using French bread for dipping.

Oh So Simple: Shrimp Dip
A fresh take on your standard shrimp cocktails at a party, shrimp dip is a crowd pleaser. This dish is served chilled so be sure to steam and peel your shrimp ahead of time! Serve this with a nice thick cracker or chip to get the perfect dip.
