Children’s Craft Class: Valentine Cards & Cookies           Sat, Feb. 9, 10am
Celebrate Valentines Day with handmade cards and cookies! Each child will make 2 valentines and decorate their own heart shaped sugar cookie to take home. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult (no additional cost). Preregistration and payment required to attend. Class fee is for one project. Fee: $10.00

Love is in the Air           Sat, Feb. 9, 12-3pm
Come see local romance authors at this romantic book-signing event! Many books will be available for purchase and the authors will be on hand to answer questions and talk about upcoming releases. Pick up a brochure at the registers!

Soup & Bread Luncheon           Thurs, Feb. 21, 11am
This tasty luncheon will comfort and warm you from the inside out! Enjoy a lunch featuring different kinds of soups and breads – all made right here in our Cafe. We’ll even give you the recipes so you can make them at home. Lunch will also include dessert and drinks. Luncheon begins at 11am. Preregistration and payment required to attend. Participants can make either an elegant Terrarium or a cute Fairy Garden! You may bring your own container or purchase one here. Make your garden as big or small as you would like. Pennsylvania Garden Show of York Fri-Sun, Mar. 1-3
See you here! Ashcombe will have a display booth during the show to showcase popular spring flowers and herbs. Browse the garden market vendors selling plants, jewelry, baked goods, and more. Then take a walk through the garden displays and stick around for the Romantic Moonlit Stroll. Tickets are available for purchase at Ashcombe!

Ashcombe’s Gardening Tips: Evergreens for Everyone Sat, Mar. 2, 1pm
Learn about the evergreens that work in our area. There are many types and you should be able to find one for your yard, or even one for a container. Broadleaf evergreens and needled evergreens will be discussed. Preregistration required to attend. FREE!

Mommy & Me: Tulip Art Tues, Mar. 5, 10am
Each child and parent will work together to create spring inspired tulip art. We will use paper, scissors, and glue to construct our project. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration and payment required to attend. Fee: $5.00

Spring Open House Sat, Mar. 23 & 30
We look forward to our Spring Open House event, year after year. As always, witness the beginnings of Spring with new plants, seeds galore, and interactive gardening displays. This year, it’s ‘Thyme for Herbs’! Explore the wonderful world of herbs and learn what herbs can do for you!

10am Tour the Herb House: Take a tour of the greenhouse where we grow all of our own herbs.

10-3pm Children’s Craft: Forks & Corks – FREE. Each child can make an herb garden marker from forks and corks.

11am Kokedama, Moss Planters
These Japanese, spherical planters are formed around the roots of our plants and are coated in a sheet of moss, and secured with twine wrapping. Join Michael Larkin, to make your own moss planter. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $15.00

1pm Presto! Pesto
Learn how to make herb pestos to be used in cooking. Recipes will be available. Sample homemade pestos too! Preregistration and payment required to attend. Fee: $5.00

12pm & 1pm Herb & Honey Seminar
Local Apiarist, Greg Hildebrand of Honey Bee Friendly, will talk about the benefits of Herbs for both bees and people. He will show case his herb infused honeys, as well as provide samplings. FREE to attend.

Mommy & Me: Mini Succulent Planters Tues, Apr. 2, 10am
Each child and parent will work together to create a mini succulent planter. We’ll play in the dirt to pot up little succulents in Easter egg planters. Each child will plant two succulents. Containers are preassembled. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration and payment required to attend. Fee: $5.00

Ashcombe’s Gardening Tips: Pruning Like a Pro Sat, Apr. 6, 1pm
During this discussion learn proper pruning tips. Such as how and when to prune. Dress appropriately as we will walk through the garden to demonstrate proper pruning techniques. Preregistration required to attend. FREE!

Children’s Craft Class: Busy with Bees Sat, Apr. 13, 10am
This day is for the Bees! Each child will make their own mason bee house and mini beeswax candle. This class is for children 5 years and older. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Our floral designer, Nedra, will instruct you on how to create a gorgeous Spring wreath on a 18 inch grapevine base. Decorations include assorted silk spring flowers, ivy, and a bow. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $40.00.

Raising Quail Seminar Sat, Apr. 20, 11am
Have you ever wondered about raising quail? We’ll talk about raising quail, starting from eggs, to incubation, and adulthood. Types of quail, feed, and housing will also be discussed. Even check out live quail during class. Preregistration required to attend. FREE!

Create your own Flowering Hanging Basket Thurs, Apr. 25, 5:30pm
Create a 12” flowering hanging basket for sun or shade with homegrown annuals from Ashcombe. One basket per person. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $40.00

Plant your own Mixed Container Thurs, May. 2, 5:30pm
Bring your own container or purchase one from us, then we’ll help you design and plant a beautiful flowering container. Soil is free. Plants must be purchased at Ashcombe. Preregistration required. Fee: $5 plus cost of plants.

Ashcombe’s Gardening Tips: Screening with Evergreens Sat, May. 4, 1pm
Learn about the many evergreens that can be used as screens and hedges in this area. Learn proper planting and spacing to have a long lasting screen. Preregistration required to attend. FREE!

Mommy & Me: Playin in the Mud Tues, May. 7, 10am
Let’s play in the mud! Mud playdough that is. Each child and parent will work together to make their own mud playdough. Your little one will have fun planting flowers using their playdough, a terracotta pot, and silk flowers. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration and payment required to attend. Fee: $5.00

Children’s Craft Class: Mother’s Day Planter Sat, May. 11, 10am or 11am
We’ll paint a pot just for mom and then we’ll plant it up! We’ll also make a card to go with it. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

Succulent Bowl Workshop Sat, May. 11, 11am-12pm
Learn how to make a succulent container with Michael Larkin. Succulents are unique, sun-loving plants that do not require lots of care. We will design and plant a container with succulents of all shapes, sizes and colors. Provided will be a terracotta planter, several succulents, soil, and instructions on how to care for you plants. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $35.00 (Class also hosted in June)

Children’s Craft Class: Butterfly Container Garden Sat, May. 25, 10am
Attract butterflies with this Butterfly Container Garden. Each child will design their own container garden in a 12” pot with butterfly-friendly plants. We will also paint our own butterfly garden charm to stick in our container. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

Draped Cement Container Workshop Sat, May. 25, 11am-1pm
In this New workshop, Michael Larkin, will help you to create an unusual draped, cement planter. This unique container can be used in your garden or for your favorite house plant. You can use the techniques you learned in this class, to make more pots at home! You will be working with wet cement so bring sturdy rubber gloves and please dress accordingly. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $30.00.

Ashcombe’s Gardening Tips: Plant Combinations for Curb Appeal Sat, Jun. 1, 1pm
Add serious curb appeal with colorful,easy to care for plants. This class will talk about annuals, perennials, and shrubs to add to your landscape to make it pop. Preregistration required to attend. FREE!

Mommy & Me: Natural Clay Impressions Tues, Jun. 4, 10am
Each child and parent will work together to create natural clay impressions. We will use various leaves and flowers to press designs into clay pieces. We will also use paints to make our designs pop. They can be hung to create a mobile or garland, or simply display them on a table. Clay will need to air dry before displaying in your home. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration and payment required to attend. Fee: $5.00

Backyard BBQ Sat, Jun. 8, 10-3pm
We’ll show you how to host a sizzlin’ backyard barbecue! The day will include grilling demonstrations and food sampling. Flyers with all the details will be available in May!

Children’s Craft Class: Make a fairy house Sat, Jun. 8, 10am
Create a magical fairy house for your fairy garden! We’ll use terracotta pots and paint to make a mushroom fairy house. If you don’t have a fairy garden this is a great start! Even place your fairy house in a flower bed or garden. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Hypertufa Container Workshop Sat, Jun. 8, 11am
Join Michael Larkin to create a decorative Hypertufa container for your garden. Each participant will create a round hypertufa container (a mixture of peat, perlite and Portland cement) that can be used on a patio or in the garden year-round. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves and dress to get dirty! Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $30.00

Cement Hosta Leaves Workshop Sun, Jun. 23, 1pm
Leaf casting is great fun and easy to do! Join Michael Larkin in creating cement hosta leaves for your garden. Learn the tricks to create a cement mold of a plant leaf. The leaf’s natural depressions and veins are captured in cement mix. They can be painted and used as wall art, bird baths, or bird feeders. We will make 2 hosta leaves and discuss ways they can be painted later at home. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $20.00

Cancellation Policy: Ashcombe reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes and events. Full refunds will be issued to class attendees in the case of cancellation by Ashcombe. If an attendee can no longer attend a class, they must notify Ashcombe about cancellation 2 days prior to the class date to be eligible for a full refund (Ex: If the class is on a Saturday, Ashcombe must be notified by Thursday). No refunds given for cancellation or a no-show by an attendee on the day of the class.
